ABOUT THIS BOOK

The Wiradjuri Language song Book 1was the first of two song books that was writt en to teach the Wiradjuri language to school children, the traditional tune from the Yolnu people from Arnhem Land has been used to help bring the Wiradjuri language alive.

Whilst the translation is not designed for singing, some of them can be, they are simply tranlated in this way so that the Wiradjuri songs can be understood.

Song book 1includes the translation into Wiradjuri of songs animal songs such as:

Song 1. "Gulambali wibiyanha Gulingga"..meaning ."Pelican sitting on the water"

Sing 2 " Dhaga Wambuwuny".. meaning .. Where is Kangaroo"

Song 3. Mingaan Yanhanha Dhangaaggu" meanng.."Sister goes for food".
