STAN GRANT (Snr)

Stan Grant, a member of the Wiradjuri Council of Elders', grew up in Wiradjuri country during and after World war 2. His father was a soldier in the War fighting in the Middle East & Tobruk. during this time his Maternal Grandfather Wilfred Johnson , an initiated traditional Wiradjuri Tribal Elder was influential in introducing Stan to the Wiradjuri Language and culture. Stan remembers well the many times he and his older brother Cecil sat around the campfire with his Grandfather and his Uncle Johnny Johnson and would listen to the Elders as they communicated in the wiradjuri language, this image fueled Stan's heart's desire to the see Wiradjuri language learned and spoken again.

DR JOHN RUDDER

John Rudder has spent many years living and working with and for Aboriginal people. since 1964 he has been learning from them and studying the ways they understand the world. John now lives in the ACT where he continues to work alongside Aboriginal people and teaches courses in aspects of Aboriginal studies. He has been working with Stan on the Wiradjuri Language Reclamation project since 1997.
